Bold predictions for Alabama football’s opponents: Mississippi State Bulldogs

Kylin Hill will compete for the Heisman Trophy in 2020.

I’m not saying that Hill will win the Heisman. I’m not even saying that he will be a finalist. I’m just saying that he is going to play well enough to earn a spot in the Heisman debate this season.

When head coaches start at new places, they tend to rely on captains and veterans. That will be the case for Mike Leach with the Mississippi State Bulldogs. It will take some time for him to recruit players that fit his system. Until then, he will get creative with ways to get Kylin Hill the football.

Hill is already considered one of the best running backs in the SEC. As of right now, I would only have him behind Najee Harris. He also showed his leadership abilities in the summer. His comments helped spark a crucial conversation that led to Mississippi changing their state flag. The truth remains that this will help his Heisman status. Half of the voters go by names they recognize. Whether you love or hate the system, his brave actions this summer will lead to more people talking about him. I believe that he would be worthy of Heisman discussions without it, but that fact remains. That’s why it only took one big game for people to talk about Jalen Hurts as a Heisman frontrunner last year.

Kylin Hill has the talent. He has the popularity. He just doesn’t have a team good enough to contend for a title. If he played for Alabama football, I would like his odds even more. However, he should at least contend in 2020.
