Bold predictions for Alabama football’s opponents: Georgia Bulldogs

Jamie Newman won’t start a single game for Georgia football.

This has been an interesting offseason for UGA. The Bulldogs lost their three-year starter at quarterback, their cornerstone offensive tackles, and the best running back in college football from last season. We are now finally seeing how Kirby Smart can recruit and develop talent.

After losing two quarterbacks to the transfer portal in recent years, Georgia has decided to go on the offensive. They landed Wake Forest transfer Jamie Newman. As soon as he signed, Bulldog fans heaped piles of praise on the player. They said that he will lead UGA to a title, that he is a Heisman contender, and that he will be a first-round draft pick. All of that praise went away as soon as JT Daniels transferred to Georgia as well.

Now that Daniels is cleared to play in 2020, I believe that he will win the starting job. After all, Kirby recruited him after landing Newman.

At this point, I don’t see why quarterback prospects decide to go to Georgia. Justin Fields had better success after leaving. Jacob Eason had better success after leaving. Jake Fromm was the only quarterback to stay, and his draft stock plummeted. We now see Jamie Newman have few options after the Bulldogs landed another recruit just months after he transfers.

I understand that recruiting competition and players transferring is the name of the game, but that game is never really won by Georgia quarterbacks.
