Bold predictions for Alabama football in the Iron Bowl
3. We will see more of the RB depth in this game
Alabama truly has an embarrassment of riches at running back. Including injured and opted-out backs, Alabama football has six players who could start in the backfield. Four backs got significant touches against Kentucky last week, and we will see that depth again this Saturday.
Najee Harris is good enough to be the workhorse, but Alabama loves to use at least two running backs in a game. All season, Brian Robinson has been the guy to change the pace. With Trey Sanders out with an injury, we have seen more from both Jase McClellan and Roydell Williams. Both have shined so far, but they haven’t been given many opportunities to do so.
Alabama would love to wear down the defensive line as the game progresses, and that should be easy to do with their variety of weapons. Alabama could easily rely on just Najee Harris, but I predict that we will see the freshmen get some reps late in this game. If Auburn manages to keep this one close, this will likely not happen. I simply believe that the lead will be big enough to give the younger guys some chances to run the ball in this one. When given chances, they will almost definitely make the most of them.
