Alabama football breaks record in NFL Mock Draft 5.0
25. Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevon Moehrig, S, TCU
The Jacksonville Jaguars have their quarterback of the future, and many will want to add pieces on offense to ensure his success. However, the value isn’t ideal at this point in the draft. They would be better off taking a running back in the second round and adding receivers later in the draft.
The Jaguars had Alabama football’s Ronnie Harrison, but they traded him away. This leaves a gap at safety. If Jacksonville wants a starter at this position, they need to take Moehrig. There is no depth at the position, so you have to prioritize it in the first round.
The Jaguars have plenty of picks in the draft, so they can reach for a player like Moehrig. He would usually go in the second round, but the lack of depth at the position is shooting him up boards. It is similar to Alabama football’s Christian Barmore’s rise. At the end of the day, he will be a fine starter at a position of need.
The Jaguars have other needs, but this is a long rebuild. They can wait on other positions for next year.
The Jaguars could be trading up for a lineman or receiver, but this mock has no trades.
