Alabama Football: 14-team SEC win predictions and ‘happiness quotients’
By Ronald Evans
Not happy SEC fanbases
- Tennessee Vols (9-3) – Happiness Quotient 2. Even with a loss to South Carolina, Tennessee fans were giddy about last season. Sliding back in 2023, including a loss in Tuscaloosa and a loss to Missouri predicted by Crawford will severely dampen the enthusiasm on Rocky Top.
- Kentucky Wildcats (7-5) – Happiness Quotient 2. With a bowl win the Cats could improve on last season’s 7-6 record. But the new measure of success in Lexington is 10 wins, which Mark Stoops pulled off in 2018 and 2021. That standard is unrealistic, but hats off to the Kentucky fans who embrace such boldness.
- Mississippi State Bulldogs (6-6) – Happiness Quotient 2. It will be a transition season in Starkville and expectations cannot be unrealistically high. For the MSU fans, at least Crawford has the Bulldogs beating Ole Miss.
- Auburn Tigers (6-6) – Happiness Quotient 2. Reasonable Auburn fans, though few in number, must realize Hugh Freeze has a multi-season rebuild job. Six wins and a bowl game would be an improvement over last season, but the Aubies will be dismayed by a loss to Vandy if Crawford is correct. Freeze will likely need a Jordan-Hare miracle or two to have an eight-win season.
