2 flip candidates emerge for Kalen DeBoer and Alabama in the 2027 DB class after Week 1

Things have been pretty quiet for Alabama in the 2027 recruiting class in the last couple of months. They've mostly shifted their focus to the 2028 cycle, which is a lot more of a priority for Kalen DeBoer and his staff. It has been well documented that the Crimson Tide isn't going to spend a ton of money on this class because they don't have a ton of room for a big freshmen crop with so much of their current roster eligible to return next season.

But they're still looking for some potential diamonds in the rough. The "Moneyball" approach has uncovered some gems in the last couple of cycles, and they need that more than ever in 2027.

Alabama currently has just 14 commitments in the 2027 class. They'd like to add at least a handful of more prospects. There is a clear focus on another defensive back or two. Likely one corner and one safety.

One of the top safety targets is Texas commit Junior Tu'upo, who visited Alabama for the season-opener. But they're not going to wait around in hopes he changes his mind. They've also got a couple of other targets they extended offers to over the weekend.

The first is UConn CB commit Preston Glasco, a 3-star recruit out of Georgia. Glasco was in Tuscaloosa for a visit for Week 1, and he picked up an Alabama offer on Saturday:

Glasco wasn't the only offer of the weekend to go out. The Crimson Tide also extended an offer to 3-star safety James Roberson from Texas, a Wisconsin commit:

Glasco has seen his recruitment seriously heat up since the summer. He committed to UConn back in June, but it's tough to see the Huskies hanging on to him down the stretch of his recruitment. Along with Alabama, two other SEC programs - Georgia and South Carolina - have offered him recently and will look to crank the heat up on him.

Alabama is in a good spot and will look to bring Glasco back to campus for another visit soon. He's got the size that Maurice Linguist covets in cornerback prospects at 6-foot-2.5 and 190 pounds.

Roberson is a guy who has gotten off to a quick start in his senior season at powerhouse Allen High School in Texas. His profile is starting to explode, and he could be a guy who rises up the rankings significantly during his final season of high school ball.

Roberson committed to Wisconsin back in June, but has numerous other offers. Alabama will look to get him on campus in the coming weeks for a game-day visit, which could put them in a position to flip him away from the Badgers.

Tu'upo is likely a higher priority in the class, but if Alabama truly wants to land a safety in this class, then they might not wait around for the Thompson High School product to make a decision if they feel like Roberson is serious about a flip.
