Looking at feeds and forums from dedicated LSU fans, I haven’t seen too many excuses or shots at Alabama. They seem to have a collective sense of disgust and confusion in terms of Monday night’s game, failing to understand how a team with so much composure and confidence could fizzle so completely. They also admit to the greatness that is Alabama’s defense and rave about the solid performance of the offense and special teams.
Still though, they are confused. It seems they didn’t think there was a way they could lose. In regards to the lackluster performance of an LSU team that played amazing all year, I would say this: Dude, I don’t know what happened to you but it’s not my problem, and I am frankly glad that Les didn’t even seem to try to spark anything, though I kept expecting him to. To those saying they don’t understand how they could lose to Alabama when they had such a strong season, my response is this: Are you serious?!

If you’ll remember, the game on November 5th wasn’t exactly an easy battle for the Tigers. I think a friend of mine summed that game perfectly, saying, “We just beat someone’s ass and lost.” Alabama had more first downs, yards of total offense and time of possession. Even though those numbers were all close, Alabama had the upper hand but didn’t use it. Now that we’ve won the game we should have won in the first place, the sting of the overtime loss earlier in the season has settled a bit. The point is, you knew what it looked like the first time. I don’t know why you thought it would be any different.

Aside from the kicking malfunctions that led to our single loss, we had an impressive season. Our total score for all games combined this season (including the NC game) was 453-106. LSU’s (minus the SEC Championship game) was 458-148. As you can see, LSU only scored five more points than Alabama all season. However, their defense allowed 42 more points than Alabama’s. Looking at both schedules, both teams could score big (especially on Ole Miss, bless their hearts) and didn’t falter in defense. LSU had weeks to prepare for Alabama’s defense. That’s why I was so surprised that Miles wasn’t changing things up or trying crazy tricks.

I know you’re stunned by the loss, and your surprise is coming from the way LSU played, not the way Alabama played. As I said earlier, you knew what was coming. Deep down, you were worried because even before the game, you were spouting off about splitting the title. What kind of positive attitude is that? It’s almost like saying, “When we lose this game, we should totally get to share the title because we beat you once.”
Like I said before, LSU fans are mostly upset about the performance of their team and coach, but some act as if they had no idea what happened, and they can’t believe Alabama won. I had faith we could win, expecting basically the same type of game we nearly won before.
I don’t understand why LSU couldn’t ignite a fire, but I sure am glad Alabama blazed one all over the field.
