Projecting The 2013 Alabama Crimson Tide Depth Chart

November 3, 2012; Baton Rouge, LA, USA; Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback AJ McCarron (10) celebrates after throwing a game winning touchdown pass to running back T.J. Yeldon (not pictured) against the LSU Tigers during the fourth quarter of a game at Tiger Stadium. Alabama defeated LSU 21-17.  Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Alabama head coach Nick Saban is expected to release the first official depth chart of the season on August 26th before the first game, but as fall camp gets closer to a finish certain spots looked to have been sorted out as far as first and seconds while others still need some sorting. The following depth chart was compiled be to what I expect the official one to look like. One thing to note I included both the slot receiver and h-back positions to the offense because of the offenses use of both extensively. Further notes on certain positions will be below the depth chart.

Offensive tackle Brandon Greene is listed here as Cyrus Kouandjio’s backup, which is where I think he will be, but he will likely be working as an extra tight end on short yardage and goal line situations as well.

Xzavier Dickson is listed at both defensive end and jack linebacker because he’ll be playing standing up in certain situations as a linebacker and on the line as a defensive end; as will Denzel Devall, who has impressed in camp. One interesting look will be when Alabama switches to a four-man defensive line, and the possibility of either Devall or Dickson on one end and Hubbard on the other end with Pagan and Stinson inside.

Listed as a backup safety to Vinnie Sunseri, Landon Collins will likely be playing the Money in dime packages and Geno Smith will be the Star in nickel packages.
