Crimson Tide Recruiting Roundup

facebooktwitterreddit

Here we are, just a few days into June, and the Tide’s Class of 2015 recruiting is just about finished with the exception of a few more spots. It’s definitely possible that a few current commits could end up at another school after a change of heart but you never know in the world of college football recruiting. As it stands right, the Tide is sitting with 18 commits currently. You can view the list of the commits along with links to their threads which include film on the commits page for the Houndztooth.

2015 QB Sitaution

With the QB dominoes starting to fall, it seems to most everyone that the Tide is concentrating on 2 targets. As we all know, that can change at the drop of the hat.

Quinten Dormady 4-star
Class of 2015 -Boerne – Boerne,TX
Quarterback – 6’4″ 208Lbs

Dormady attended this  week’s football camp in Tuscaloosa in hopes of receiving an offer from the Tide it most certainly paid off. Analysts seem to be changing their minds about his possible destination and a few of those changed their crystal ball projections on 247Sports.

The offer, however, has not changed Dormady’s plans of visiting several other schools before his July decision.

Travis Waller 4-star
Class of 2015 -Servite – Anaheim,Ca
Quarterback – 6’3″ 190Lbs

Not your typical pro style passer as Tide fans are accustom to, Waller has the the break from the pocket and make game changing plays with his legs.  However, his ability passing the ball received a “passing” grade when Tide Offensive Coordinator Lane Kiffin visited Servite in early May. Not soon after, an offer came down the pike for the dual threat quarterback.

Waller currently lists Alabama and Northwestern as his 2 favorites, though there are a few caveats to that list.  While the Tide and the Wildcats stand at the top of his list, it is actually Ohio State, USC, and Oregon who interest the most. Thing is, they have yet to offer. Notre Dame has also entered the picture with the decommitment of QB Blake Barnett, which has caused a large shift in predictions to the Irish for Waller’s services.

5-Star Godwin a “Must Have” for Coach Saban

As camps are well under way across the nation, Bama finished off one of their own, bringing several elite prospects.  Among the list was Callaway(GA) high school’s Terry Godwin, a 2015 receiver and defensive back. Godwin is currently committed to the instate Georgia Bulldogs, but is not stranger to Tuscaloosa, visiting as recently at A-Day.  Godwin arrived on Sunday and stayed til Tuesday, working out for the coaching staff and hanging out with the players.

While he only competed in Sunday’s portion off camp, he did not waste any time, spending various moments with Head Coach Nick Saban.  Saban spoke with Godwin about the possibility of playing time his freshman year with 3 WRs leaving, among them the kick returner as well. He also received the ok from the head man to play baseball if he were to chose Alabama, as Saban had done the same in college.  Saban also gave him the exclusive permission to sound the horn that segments the practices.

Godwin still remains committed to Georgia, but says UGA and  Alabama, along with Auburn, are all 3 tied at the top. Godwin has tentative plans to return to the Capstone next week to cheer on a younger friend at camp.
