Crimson Tide Recruiting Roundup

You may remember from last week’s roundup that the 2015 QB situation could start to taking shape soon.

2015 QB Situation Update

Tide Target 4-star Quinten Dormady came off the QB board earlier this week when he committed to Tennessee.

After Dormady’s commitment, that leaves 4-star Dual Threat QB Travis Waller, 4-star Dual Threat QB Blake Barnett plus the possibility of 3-star USC Commit David Sills (will visit later in the week) and another target that may have emerged today. Waller and Barnett are both on campus in Tuscaloosa visiting over the next few days.

Barnett Article from AL.Com

"“Obviously, it’s a national powerhouse,” Steinberg said. “With Coach (Nick) Saban, it speaks for itself. Also, the allure of the SEC. When he de-committed from Notre Dame, proximity wasn’t an issue.”Barnett, a Corona, Calif., native, was a longtime Notre Dame commitment, but recently backed off. Most recruiting services feel that Barnett is an Oregon lean.“I know Oregon’s sitting at No. 1, but Alabama’s up there or else he wouldn’t be visiting,” Steinberg said. “I know he wants to get his decision out of the way, but he wants to be smart about it.”"

Travis Waller Article From Scout.com (Free)

"Alabama- “They’re a powerhouse program and Coach Saban is a great coach. They run a pro-style offense and although I see myself as a dual threat guy, I think I could still fit in there. They said they like the idea of having an athletic quarterback and they could open up the offense more.”Northwestern- “I’m a big academic guy and Northwestern is one of the best academic schools in the country. The depth chart sets up pretty nicely and I think I could play early plus I love the coaching staff and have a great relationship with the guys there.”Notre Dame- “Being from Servite, there’s a natural connection with Notre Dame. The spread offense is tailor made for me and I would fit in very well. They also have great academics and the tradition they have is incredible.”Ohio State- “I love Coach Meyer and no one has recruited me harder than Ohio State. I fit in perfectly with that offense and they have had a ton of success over the last few years. I know they already have a quarterback but they still like me a lot so I’m giving them a strong look.”"

Waller reported on his Twitter account that he would be making his final decision on July 1. The quotes from above are his top 4 schools with no order to them.

News came out today that 4-Star Kai Locksley will be visiting Alabama this week too. The 6-foot-3, 188-pound Locksley is ranked No. 121 nationally in the 247Sports’ Top 247. Locksley is probably a long shot as of now with schools such as Auburn, Florida State, Maryland, Oregon, Texas and Virginia Tech in his Top 6.

2015 WR Daylon Charlot

Current WR Commit Daylon Charlot attended LSU camp this past weekend and earned an offer from the home state Tigers. Most analysts seem to think with the new offer, this one will go down to the wire.

Class of 2015 LB Leo Lewis (Bama Commit)

Lewis has made a few trips over the past few weekends to LSU, Ole Miss as well as Mississippi State. Lewis claims the Bulldogs are his #2 team behind the Crimson Tide. He is currently in Tallahassee for a few days. He plans to take official visits to Alabama, Texas A&M, UCLA, FSU, and Cal. He told one of our staff members this yesterday: “I’m definitely committed to Alabama, I love Alabama, but I’m still just checking everything out and making sure I made the right decision.”

Class of 2015 DE/LB James Lockhart

The 4-star will be making a trip to Tuscaloosa today to check things out. The Tide is in his final 2 with Texas A&M. Lockhart hopes to get to know the coaching staff better while on the trip and may not participate in the camp. “It’s really hard,” Lockhart told 247Sports. I want to set a date sometime before I start two-a-days. A&M is starting to fill up and someone from out of state could commit there. Basically, if I go to Alabama and don’t feel like it’s the right fit, I’m going to pull the trigger on A&M. I don’t know for sure yet.”
