"Football is officially here with the start of Fall camp, the Alabama Crimson Tide finally getting back to work on the road to 16.  Today’s practice featured the veteran players, as the freshman are set to practice later on this evening. Below is the practice report via AL.comTUSCALOOSA, Alabama — Football is back, and Alabama’s giving us two practices to break down today as preseason camp is officially underway. Here’s the latest from Practice No. 1, veterans edition.Setting the scene— Alabama’s veterans and a handful of new faces took the field for the first of two practices at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields. Most position groups had four players. The skies were hazy and the temperature was 77 degrees. What we saw— Yes, Florida State transfer Jacob Coker was one of three QBs present for the morning session, joining Blake Sims and Cooper Bateman. It looked like your typical first day for Coker, who had a handful of high throws. You’ll see pretty much all of the throws we saw in some upcoming videos.— RB Kenyan Drake, who was arrested in July and suspended from team activities, was on the field and one of four at his position. He joined T.J. Yeldon, Derrick Henryand Jalston Fowler.— DL Jarran Reed, who was arrested last month for a DUI, was not at the morning practice. The six defensive linemen were: A’Shawn Robinson, Jonathan Allen,D.J. Pettway, Dalvin Tomlinson, Anthony Orr and Darren Lake. SeniorBrandon Ivory, a returning starter at nose guard, was not present.— CB Eddie Jackson, who went down with a torn ACL in April, was one of the five at his position. With a big brace on his right knee, he worked through drills alongsideBradley Sylve, Tony Brown, Cyrus Jones, Anthony Averett.— Two other newcomers on the field: P JK Scott and OL Dominick Jackson. Jackson worked with the second group of offensive linemen at right guard, but the group didn’t have enough for two full teams, so some players ran with both.— DL Dakota Ball was with the tight ends.— Interestingly, Alphonse Taylor was at RG with the first group. Left to right, it wasCam Robinson, Arie Kouandjio, Ryan Kelly, Taylor and Austin Shepherd.Leon Brown was not present.— Chris Black swapped his No. 5 for No. 1. According to Alabama’s media guide, Bo Scarbrough was to wear No. 1. I wouldn’t read into that as anything definitive about Scarbrough’s status. Remember, Henry changed his number three times last year. Freshmen take what they can get.— WR DeAndrew White, who missed the spring with a toe injury, was back and practicing.— Sophomore Ryan Anderson was one of four players working at inside linebacker. He’s typically been with the outside linebackers. What’s next?Nick Saban and select players will speak with reporters after the veteran practice. The younger players will gather this evening for their practice.http://www.al.com/alabamafootball/index.ssf/2014/08/alabama_practice_report_jacob.html#incart_riverInteresting to see some returning vets trying different spots than in the Spring, Ryan Anderson is at ILB again and they seem to be trying to find a blocking TE by switching DL Dakota Ball there. Should know more about the finality of these moves as camp progresses. Stay tuned for even more info from The Houndztooth!"
