5) Ole Miss Rebels

Will this season give the Rebels something to cheer about or will it leave them saying “We are Ole Miss”?

The Rebels have taken care of business so far this season with wins against Vanderbilt and Boise State to open the season. But there is one number that sticks out to me: Rushing statistics.

The Rebels are ranked 101st in the NCAA for rushing yards this season. They don’t have any problems passing, save Bo Wallace’s first half performance against Boise State. For the season, Wallace has attempted 66 passes and completed 44 of those for 707 yards and five touchdowns.

The leading receivers so far, Cody Core and Evan Ingram, have put up the numbers and gave the Rebels their offense. Core has eight receptions for 195 yards and three touchdowns while Evan Ingram added 153 on 11 catches.

Ole Miss’ defense gave up 399 yards against Boise State to open the season but held Vanderbilt to 167 yards. You can’t really judge off of the Vandy performance because I believe I could build a defense from guys on Twitter and hold them to less than 200.

Let’s catch a few more games and see how the Rebels progress over the next couple of weeks.
