Alabama has officially opened up it’s conference slate of games. After three weeks of a struggle vs. West Virginia and a couple of scrimmage matches against FAU and Southern Miss, the real heart of the season showed it’s face Saturday against the Florida Gators. It certainly wasn’t the cleanest of games, with turnovers, dropped passes and even a missed field goal were a part of the madness in Bryant-Denny Stadium. However, records were broken that day, as Alabama finished with a 21 point victory over Florida.
The twitter reactions to the game were, as usual, comical and insightful. We’ve pulled the best ones and laid them out for your entertainment.
But first…
Painful to watch and just…ew. Now on to the game. Kenyan Drake made news early with a 85 yard bomb to start things up. Then Amari Cooper was left wide open for a 79 yard score. Needless to say, Twitter was just astounded:
An opening pass reminiscent of the '05 Florida-Bama game. Crowd reaction is reminiscent too.

Alabama came out swinging. The supposed “running QB” in Blake Sims kicked off the game with two 79+ yard bombs. A lot of praise was given for Lane Kiffin. How can you doubt a 600+ offensive yard game? It was the first time in Alabama history that a single game featured a 400+ yard passer (Blake Sims), a 200+ yard reciever (Amari Cooper) and a 100+ rusher (Derrick Henry)
Drake does not handle success well.

Yes, like the real Drake, there was a very quick fall from grace as Kenyan Drake fumbled the ball on the following drive. He wouldn’t be the only one to blame, however:
An #Alabama team that can't run the ball, can't hold on to it, can't cover anyone and can't get plays off...Is this 2006?

Nick Saban goes five-alarm Saban on Blake Sims.

Yikes. Certainly about as bad, if not worse, as Alabama has looked in recent memory. 4 turnovers, one of which directly resulted in a Florida TD. Not to mention the big mental mistakes in the offense. Yeah, so Nick Saban wasn’t happy how it played out Saturday. A few more comments on the sloppiness of the game:
RT @JoshuaZavadil: Somebody call a taxi for this game. It should not be driving.

Florida-Bama is Weekend at Bernie's. The Gators look dead, Tide carrying them around putting sunglasses on them.

But there wasn’t just negatives from the game. There were a few takeaways, Including some big records broken.
Wow. RT @AlligatorArmy With that carry, Florida has given up the most yardage in program history. Topping the 1996 Fiesta Bowl.

Oh yeah, Nick Saban intercepted a pass from Florida quarterback Jake Driskel, if you weren’t watching.

Bobby Bowden was in attendance for this game, along with former Crimson Tide assistant Howard Schnellenberger.
It's a heavy burden Alabama is carrying, keeping two teams in this game.

A tall order on the third-ranked team in the nation could handle.
