The class of 2015 for the Alabama Crimson Tide is just about wrapped up with only a few spots remaining so there is never too much news on that front now days. Let’s try to get you all caught up on what has been happening with the Recruiting Roundup.

BamaOnline did report (subscriber content) that the Tide did strengthen a few commits this past weekend with wide receiver Calvin Ridley, athlete Shawn Burgess-Becker and defensive back Rico McGraw.

Blake Barnett

The Tide’s verbally committed signal caller for the 2015 class made a return trip to Tuscaloosa for this weekend for the Florida game. Barnett made the trip east after his game from his home in Corona, CA. and also brought a few family members.

“It was awesome,” Barnett said to Al.com. “It was nice to get out there and see the first one. It was a good game as well and the offense was pretty productive. It was nice to be able to go to that game.”

According to the same story, other 2015 commits were there including safety Deionte Thompson, wide receiver Calvin Ridley, and Shawn Burgess-Becker. Barnett said that it was great to get out here and spend some time with those guys since they don’t see each other much. He also stated the importance of building a relationship with them.

He also had some time to work on Georgia commits Trent Thompson and Terry Godwin as well as a few prospects in the 2016 class. “We got to talk to quite a bit,” Barnett said. “It was good and they’re obviously at the game for a reason. I’m always busy talking to (recruits) and putting a little words in a couple of guys ears to hopefully get them (to Alabama).”

Adonis Thomas

This Lawrenceville, GA linebacker is committed to Florida but that hasn’t stopped Coach Saban and the staff from staying after this one to try to get him to flip.

“They’re recruiting him still very, very hard,” Central Gwinnett High School head coach Todd Wofford said to Al.com. “(Defensive coordinator) Kirby (Smart) is on him real hard. They talk several times a week.”

Thomas was supposed to make the trip to Tuscaloosa for the Florida game but didn’t get to because his mother was unable to make the trip. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound prospect has plans to attend the Auburn and Mississippi State games at the Capstone.

According to his head coach, this will go down to the wire.

Terry Godwin

The visit for Godwin was the second straight trip for the five-star athlete from Hogansville, GA. While he maintains he is committed to Georgia, if you follow the visits you will see that they are starting to add up.

Godwin also has a connection to the Tide with Alabama assistant coach Billy Napier’s brother being his offensive coordinator.

Of course with Saban the recruiter, you know that he knows what to say to show these prospects how they will be used.

"“Coach Saban asked ‘Do you see how we try to get Amari Cooper the ball 10 times or more in one game? That’s how we’re going to use you,” said Terry to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.“I was like ‘That’s great. I want to play both outside and inside (spots at wide receiver.’ Coach Saban said ‘Oh, well then we can make that happen.’ On the second visit I went to, (Saban) said ‘I see you’re getting a little taller and bigger, with more muscle on you. So we probably could use you on the outside and the inside.’ So I liked hearing that.”"

The nation’s number 2 rated prospect defensive tackle Trent Thompson also attended, saying he would be coming back soon.
