The 2014–2015 basketball season is upon us and the Alabama Crimson Tide is gearing up for head coach Anthony Grant’s fifth season at the helm in Tuscaloosa.
Although there are several questions lingering over the program, none bigger than Anthony Grant’s job security after a horrendous 2013–2014 campaign, many fans are still ready for a new year of Alabama basketball.
The 2013–2014 season brought a few highs and a lot of lows for Crimson Tide basketball fans. Senior guard Trevor Releford had a season for the record books. Releford led the team averaging 18.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. He even capped off his historic season by setting the all-time career steals record in school history with 203.
Releford’s magnificent season aside, the Tide had few things to celebrate following a 13–19 (7–11 SEC) finish to the season. 2013–2014 marked only the second time under Anthony Grant that the Crimson Tide missed postseason competition.
With question marks all around and restlessness beginning to sit in with fans, the Alabama Crimson Tide only has one option this season – improve or face major reorganization.
Let’s break down the 2014 schedule, the important departures, new faces and what Alabama has to do to succeed.
