Alabama’s secondary will be a strength rather than a liability this year. And much of that has to do with bringing on Mel Tucker to coach the DBs. Tucker has an impressive resume, but the key fact is this: Tucker worked for Saban at LSU. Saban isn’t bringing in old buddies as a favor. If he rehires someone, it’s because that person is worth it.
