Petition Started To Retire LSU’s Live Mascot, Signatures Get Trolled

A concerned person has started an online petition to have Mike The Tiger removed from his on-campus sanctuary in Baton Rouge at the LSU campus.

Look, y’all. We are all friends here. I get along with most football fans and do enjoy the trash talk at times. I am going to drop some knowledge for you all though. If you ever do start a petition for anything and want to post it on a message board, think twice unless it’s something like a cause for cancer or to raise some money for someone that is sick. Try to never let it involve something not as important because you are about to be trolled.

I’ve seen all of this before. Remember when Bobby Petrino went out and wrecked his motorcycle with his mistress and football fans found the online wedding book that people could sign?

Things got so ugly, that it had to be taken down. This one hasn’t gotten to that point as of yet but if it had been left up just a little bit longer, it would have been even worse.

This group’s petition page says they are wanting to get 70,000 signatures and they are almost there.

"Recently, it has encourged other schools to rent big cats, kept in small cages in conditions that are considered by some to be animal cruelty. Washington State University in Seattle kept a tiger in a small cage during football practice, and Loyola Marymount University of Los Angeles, California, hired a lion for the start of fall classes- to show their school spirit.This “tradition” began before tigers became an endangered species. An institution of higher learning has the choice and the intellectual capacity to make the right decision when it comes to respecting wildlife- especially an endangered species such as the Bengal tiger. We ask Louisiana State University to retire Mike the Tiger as a school mascot and end this tradition."

You can sign it if you wish or not. I didn’t because I think the tiger is fine with his huge sanctuary. Every time you see him, he seems to be having fun with no stress, although I’m not a Tiger whisperer. Some of the comments did have me laughing a bit though. There’s quite a few more if you want to check some of them out. A lot of the signatures were petitioning to be unbanned on message boards.
