Rece Davis
Rece Davis grew up in Muscle Shoals, AL and attended the University of Alabama. In 2015 he made his debut as the host of ESPN’s College Gameday.
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast news and public affairs in 1988, Davis moved to Columbus, GA to work at WRBL-TV. In Columbus, he was a sports reporter, the lead weekend anchor, and eventually the station’s sports director.
In 1993 he moved to Flint, MI to be a sports anchor and reporter at WJRT, the Flint affiliate of ABC. His high school basketball coverage quickly caught the attention of ESPN. In 1995 Rece Davis began working at ESPN.
For his first few years with the network, Davis was a reporter on mainly basketball shows. He went on to anchor SportsCenter. He has been the host of the College Gameday road show during basketball season since the program launched in 2005. Davis also worked on ESPN and ABC’s coverage of the Triple Crown horse races and led ESPN’s coverage of the 2012 NFL Draft.
In recent football seasons, Rece Davis called the ESPN Thursday night primetime game with Jesse Palmer, David Pollack, and Sam Ponder. He also served as the in-studio anchor for College Gameday during football season and mediated arguments between Mark May and Lou Holtz on College Football Live and College Football Final.
