Marillyn Hewson

Marillyn Hewson is the Chairman, President, and CEO of Lockheed Martin, the world’s largest defense contractor. A native of Kansas, Hewson holds a BS in business administration and an MA in economics from the University of Alabama. She also attended Columbia Business School and the Executive Development Program at Harvard Business School.

Hewson joined Lockheed Martin in 1983 as an industrial engineer. She served in various executive roles before being named the company’s first female CEO in 2013. In her first year as CEO, Lockheed Martin posted record operating profits and earnings per share. Under Hewson, Lockheed Martin has focused on cutting costs and optimizing their portfolio of businesses to maintain sustainable growth in an era of decreasing defense spending.

In 2014, Fortune Magazine named her the fourth most powerful woman in business. Earlier this year, USA Today identified Hewson as the third highest paid female chief executive in the United States (behind Yahoo’s Marissa Meyer and Oracle’s Safra Ada Catz).

She currently serves on the Board of Directors of DuPont and the President’s Export Council. Hewson is Vice Chairman of the Aerospace Industries Association and is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Ms. Hewson serves on the Board of Directors of the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation, the Board of Governors of the USO, the Board of the National Geographic Education Foundation, and the Board of Directors of Catalyst. She stays close to her alma mater by serving on the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration’s Board of Visitors.

Marillyn Hewson lives in Potomac, MD with her husband.
