Ole Miss:

Ole Miss officially won the second annual College Football Playoff over the weekend, congrats Rebel Black Bears! Oh wait, that actually didn’t happen? Well someone needs to tell their fans that.

The Grove People beat up on the poor pitiful UT Martin Skyhawks 76-3. Kind of sad they didn’t shut them out if you ask me.

The Hotty Totty’s were able to rack up 662 yards of offense while only turning the ball over once.

Again, let’s pump the brakes a little bit on this win. They beat an FCS team from the OVC who they no doubt had to pay to come play them. Not bad though considering the last time they hosted a team from the OVC Jacksonville State actually beat them!

Ole Miss will have one more fluff game when Fresno State comes to town on Saturday, then it’s off to Tuscaloosa for the rematch with Alabama on September 19th.

Texas A&M:

Aside from Alabama, Texas A&M might have had the most impressive SEC win of the week. They took down Arizona State 38-17 in a “neutral” site game in Houston.

Before we get too pumped up about a week one Texas A&M victory, let’s remember what happened last year after their week one trouncing of South Carolina.

The Aggies used two quarterbacks in Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray and both had their moments. The defense looked much improved under John Chavis, but it’s hard to put too much stock into one game.

The Aggies will have a few tune-up games against Ball State and Nevada before they begin their SEC schedule against Arkansas in JerryWorld on September 26th.

LSU:

As mentioned earlier, LSU’s game against McNeese State was cancelled due to lightning. There will not be a makeup for this game.
