If you love big SEC games, which I am sure you do since most of you that read this will be Alabama fans, today’s game is everything you want. One team looks to get over the Hump that has been plaguing their team for years and one has their backs against the wall needing to come out of Athens with a win.
Alabama leads the series against the Bulldogs 37-25-4 with a 14-10 record while playing in Athens. We all remember what happened the last time both teams met. It was one for the ages and gave the Tide the 2012 SEC Championship which sent them to the BCS Championship game where Alabama demolished Notre Dame. The last time the two teams met in Athens was in 2008. You probably remember that one, too. The Georiga fans went to a funeral wearing black and got to see the Bulldogs lose 41-30.

With the weather looking to a factor, this very well could be a grown man football game. The Bulldogs have two talented running backs in the backfield with Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. The Bulldogs are second in the conference with their ground game with an average of 257 yards per game, but the Tide has been holding opponents to only 58 yards per game. Not only do the Bulldogs have the rushing attack, they also have an efficient quarterback in Greyson Lambert. The Bulldogs schedule ranks well below Alabama’s so we will get to see how he reacts going against a talented defense.

Georgia isn’t the only team bringing in some talented running backs. The Tide’s Derrick Henry and Kenyan Drake leads the Tide stable that averages 202 yards per game. Alabama also gains another weapon in former five-star running back Bo Scarbrough. Just how much he plays remains to be seen but Coach Nick Saban said earlier in the week that the staff was trying to work him into a role. Quarterback Jake Coker needs to stay calm and not commit too many mistakes in this one. No turnovers and just let the offense do its job. If he could hit a few downfield, that would be great, too.
The only thing to do now is to tee the ball up and let’s play football. Hopefully on Sunday, we will be discussing another Tide win and hearing Georgia fans tell us that next year is their year.
