#4 Coaching rumors are almost never right.

How many times have the media told us that Nick Saban is headed out the door at this point?

Nick Saban has been at Alabama for eight years so that makes this…  yep, the eighth year in a row the media were sure he was leaving.

The motivations of some media members like Clay Travis and Tim Brando are pretty obvious.  They are fans of teams that have to play Alabama regularly and like all fans of those teams they get excited about the idea of Nick Saban leaving the Tide.

We also know that fans make up coaching rumors because they get so desperate for good news about their team.  Remember when Arkansas fans were sure they were going to get Jon Gruden because he wore a red tie on Monday Night Football?

Here’s a flow chart I made a few years back to help you figure out if you should worry about coaching rumors.  It’s a little dated, but I think it’s still valid.
