4 The Student Section

There have been complaints on and off over the last few years about Alabama’s student section, but we love them.

This year the university has been avoiding playing “Dixieland Delight” in the stadium as much as they can.  Alabama fans have their own… unique… lyrics that we like to insert into the song.  We just express our feelings on Auburn, Tennessee, and LSU, who can blame anyone for that?

With almost every Alabama football game being on live TV though, the “Dixieland Delight” crackdown has come down hard; it was only played a couple of times early in the season.

The student section at first reacted to this by chanting “Dixieland Delight” during the fourth quarter to try to get the stadium administration to play the song.  This was ineffective.

Next the student section simply picked a time on the clock, 5:15 left in the game, and at that point if it hadn’t been played an A capella version was sung by the entire student section. So instead of “Dixeland Delight” and our colorful lyrics being played during a TV timeout it was sung in the middle of a game, during a play, on live TV.

We are thankful for the Alabama student section!
