2008 – Florida 31, Alabama 20

This was a heartbreaker for Alabama Crimson Tide fans.  Nick Saban had come to Alabama and the Tide looked to be finally returning to glory after an undefeated regular season.

Alabama hadn’t seen an undefeated regular season since 1994.  That’s a 14 year drought for a football crazed fanbase that was used to not just success, but domination.  Needless to say the hopes of the Alabama faithful were pinned on Alabama upsetting the favored Florida Gators of Urban Meyer.

Meyer had a young quarterback that was the darling of the media named Tim Tebow; so most of the media didn’t get Alabama much of a chance in this game.

Alabama surprised a lot of people when they had a 20-17 lead going into the fourth quarter… but it just wasn’t meant to be for the Tide.  Alabama would fall to Tebow and the Gators 31-20.

The loss was bitter at the time, but looking back it was the fire that forged the dynasty that was to begin the very next year.
