In the end I think the favorite and the true workhorse takes home the Heisman trophy. Watching Derrick Henry run the football this season was unlike anything I’ve ever seen before.

What gives him the nod to me over McCaffrey is how he was used. Down the stretch in the season, and especially late in games there was no doubt who was getting the football. There was also no disguising it or getting cute with it. You knew that Jacob Coker was going to turn around and hand the ball to Derrick Henry and there wasn’t anything a damn thing you could do about it. That is the very definition of dominance in my opinion.

Derrick Henry had at least 22 carries in every single SEC game and still averaged 5.8 yards a carry in those games. In the SEC. I know this might not be the best year for the SEC in terms of nationally prominent teams, but there are still dozens of first round talents in this league on defense.

In the last two games Henry had 90 carries for 460 yards. Good for over 5 yards a carry. Again there was no doubt to any team that #2 was getting the ball and people still couldn’t stop him.

Henry ends 2015 with 1986 rushing yards on 339 carries and 23 touchdowns. He broke HERSCHEL WALKER’s SEC single season rushing record by 95 yards and he did it on 46 fewer carries. I don’t care what anyone else in the country does, that should be an automatic Heisman win right there.

Henry is only 14 yards shy of 2,000 for the season; which he might get the first play of the Cotton Bowl.

In the end I think McCaffrey made a nice push on Saturday but I’m going with the true old fashioned work horse to take home the Heisman on Saturday night.

Take solace in knowing that Vegas agrees with me Alabama fans, as Henry is currently the 3-10 favorite to bring Alabama their second Heisman trophy Saturday night.
