After Thursday’s College Football Awards, How Could You Not?
It wasn’t just the fact that Henry was nominated for awards, it’s for the fact that he won and what awards he won.
During the awards ceremony that was held in Atlanta, Ga., Henry took home three: The Doak Walker Award (awarded to the nationa’s top college football player), The Maxwell Award (given to the nation’s most outstanding college football player), and The Walter Camp Player of the Year(awarded to the nation’s top college football player).
Now after those wins, how could he know win the Heisman. It’s the right things to do.
And then there is this from the Heisman Trophy Mission Statement:
The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work.
If that doesn’t describe Derrick Henry, I don’t know if you can find anything to win. The Heisman should go to the nation’s best player that fits the above criteria. And that man is Alabama running back Derrick Henry.
