Alabama Football: Why Do We Always Get The Mouthy Opponents?

Yet another Alabama football game on the horizon and just like clockwork, a few players from the opponent’s side decides to get diarrhea of the mouth before the game.

Maybe it’s because I miss it since I don’t pay too much attention to the media days from other football games that happen. It’s not easy to miss the coverage for this one since it is the final college game of the season and where the national champions will be crowned on Monday night.

It’s not the first time it’s happened to the Tide before. As a matter of fact, Michigan State had quite a few things to say before Alabama’s semifinal contest on December 31, where the Tide would take everything but their dignity with a 38-0 score. They seemed to not give much credit to Alabama quarterback Jake Coker saying they would force him into a bad game. That didn’t work. I think he played his best game for the Crimson Tide just before party attendees lined up to sing Rammer Jammer and Auld Lang Syne.

Now, here we are at the game that will decide it all. The College Football Playoff National Championship will be played on Monday at the University of Phoenix Stadium on Glendale, AZ. Kickoff is set for approximately for 7:30 pm CT.

It should be a great game between a more traditional team versus one that uses speed and spread formations. Now, it’s turned into what motor mouth linebacker said or even the Crowing Cornerback as well. And it should be pointed out that most of the ones that are jawing are of the orange-clad representatives from the Atlantic Coast Conference. Didn’t you think Saban would have approved of this? If you did, go outside and run a couple of 110s.

Didn’t Clemson coach Dabo Swinney remember anything from his playing days during the 1993 Sugar Bowl when the Hurricanes and Tide were going to go toe-for-toe for the title? Miami talking all week. Never shut up. Alabama talked on the field. Coincidentally, they didn’t shut up, either.

During Media Day for the game, a couple of Clemson players had a few disrespectable things to about the Crimson Tide. This always works out for the best and the other team never gets wind of it. That last sentence is dripping with sarcasm if you couldn’t pick that up.

The first Potato Head (Safety Jayron Kearse) said this per AL.com: “(Henry) may have the hardware, but we’ve got the Heisman winner.”

Actually Potato Head, and I don’t mean to chip off a piece of that rock your have in the Auburn with a lake stadium, no the hell you don’t. You have a Heisman finalist. It is very understandable mistake that programs with hardly any relevance can make. We accept your apology

Here are a few more from my buddy Bandit via our site. These things are going to do one of the two things.

Number one: The Alabama players will see and it will open a can of whoop-ass on the Clemson Tigers (Hint-According to some tweets that I have read from players, they have seen it).

Number two: The trash talk actually works. This doesn’t seem to be the statistical norm at all in my approximate 30 years of watching the sports and being able to comprehend it.

If this game turns out like Alabama fans want it to, I would hope that the players that made comments will shut down their social media. We apparently have internet ninjas in our fanbase and they won’t let them forget.

There is a pretty important ball game coming Monday. You keep talking your smack and I will sit back and watch our players carry on like for them to do: quiet and ready to take care of business.

It’s been a while since you have been here. Not everyone can handle the mental aspect of playing in such a big game. Judging by your average and taking your national titles into account, use this game and the mental side of your game should be ready for the 2070 College Football Playoff Championships to be held on Mars.
