It’s time for Tide Report, to help you get caught up on the major news stories of the day concerning the Crimson Tide.

ICYMI: Auburn Fans On Twitter Enjoy Special Teams Showcase At A-Day

First off in Tide Report, let’s see how the teams did on the diamonds this week. Softball was in action in Tuscaloosa while the men headed to a chilly Lexington, Ky.

Alabama Softball Sweeps Mississippi State with 8-1 Win Sunday (RollTide.com)

"Alabama softball rebounded from an early 1-0 deficit against Mississippi State Sunday afternoon at Rhoads Stadium to score eight unanswered runs and hand the Bulldogs an 8-1 loss, securing the series sweep for the Crimson Tide.Alabama (35-7, 8-4 SEC) was especially efficient late in innings, scoring seven of its eight runs against Mississippi State (21-18, 2-10 SEC) with two outs. Five of the eight runs scored came off the bat of Marisa Runyon, who blasted a fourth-inning grand slam and a sixth-inning RBI double."

Not a bad weekend at all for the Crimson Tide ladies on the diamond. Those sweeps are the best. The softball team seemed to start slow to me at the beginning of the season, dropping a game here and there. Not lately, though. With a big series win against top ranked Florida last week plus this sweep added in, the ladies could very well be starting to hit their stride.

Eicholtz Shines as Baseball Claims 2-1 Win at 19th-Ranked Kentucky on Sunday (RollTide.com)

"Crimson Tide starter Nick Eicholtz worked a career-long 7.2 innings, allowing only one run to help Alabama baseball claim the 2-1 win on Sunday afternoon at Cliff Hagan Stadium. With the victory, the Tide improves to 19-13 on the season and 6-6 in SEC play.More from Bama HammerAlabama Football: Moving past Crimson Tide quarterback rumorsAlabama Football: How improved is the Ole Miss defense?Alabama Football: Power Ranking the SEC after week threeAlabama’s latest win total projection hints that team is in trouble this seasonAlabama Football: What happened with again QB1 Jalen Milroe"

Instead of following the Tide softball strip, the Alabama baseball team is going on their own way. With a quick start in SEC play, the Tide took two series from Florida and Tennessee. Alabama only dropped one in each contest. Now with the past weekends factored in, the Tide is currently holding a .500 record in SEC play. I hope this gets corrected. I love baseball and would love nothing more to see them make a run for Omaha. Please just keep us out of Tallahassee.

Alabama Football: Takeaways and Stats from Tide’s 2nd Spring Scrimmage (Bleacher Report)

"University of Alabama head coach Nick Saban borrowed one of the favorite teachings of Tony Dungy, who was on hand for the Crimson Tide’s annual coaching clinic this weekend, when describing his team’s second spring scrimmage.Specifically, Saban related to what the former NFL coach said he learned from Chuck Noll, who won four Super Bowls as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers—that champions don’t have to do extraordinary things, they just have to do ordinary things extraordinarily."

One of my favorite Alabama writers as well as book authors, Chris Walsh, put out this look back at Alabama’s second scrimmage. It’s a very detailed look if you can take the time to read it.

Alabama’s Bo Scarbrough Ready To Step Up His Game (Bama Hammer)

It’s a bit of promotion for our co-editor Meredith, but I really did enjoy her piece on Bo Scarbrough. It’s one of her first one with us and I think she will do an excellent job. I’m proud to be co-editor with her on this site, but I’m more happier to call her a friend.

Pass the coffee. It’s too early to be making big decisions without the help of a cup of ambition. See y’all on the internet, Roll Tide!
