Today is a big day for the former Alabama Crimson Tide players that we have watched for three or four years on the football field. The NFL Draft gets started tonight with the first round of selections.

Gamble, McCLeny win McWhorter Award

"University of Mississippi golfer Forrest Gamble and Alabama softball player Haylie McCleney have been named the 2015-16 Southeastern Conference H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athletes of the Year, Commissioner Greg Sankey announced Thursday.“Forrest and Haylie are the type of student-athletes who make a commitment to excellence in the classroom and in competition that are representative of the high standards of the Southeastern Conference,” Sankey said. “Their accomplishments and their character make them ideal choices for the H. Boyd McWhorter Scholar-Athlete Award.”"

Alabama athletes not only excel on the field, but they do off the field as well. Congratulations to Haylie for being selected as a winner of the McWhorter Scholar-Athlete of the Year. For winning, she will receive a $15,000 post-graduate scholarship.

Former Alabama Center Ryan Kelly Named to NFF Hampshire Honor Society

"Former Alabama center Ryan Kelly has been named to the 2016 National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society.The NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college career. A total of 875 players from 278 schools qualified for membership in the society’s 10th year, setting a new record for the number of schools represented in the history of the program, which began in 2007."

Not only will Kelly hear his name called soon during the NFL Draft, he is also being awarded for his off the field accomplishments as well.

Alabama’s Daniell Tabbed SEC Freshman of the Year; Routliffe Named First Team All-SEC

"Alabama’s Andie Daniell was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year for women’s tennis, while junior Erin Routliffe, the league’s 2014 Co-Freshman of the Year, made her third consecutive appearance on the first team, the conference office announced on Wednesday. Daniell also earned Second Team All-SEC and All-Freshman Team honors."

It seems some congratulations is also in order for the women’s tennis team. These awards come in at a steady pace for the Crimson Tide student-athletes, don’t they?
