9. Flip For the Alabama GymTide at Coleman Coliseum

Throughout the winter months, the Alabama GymTide gymnastics team can be found competing against other universities from around the country. Nationally recognized year after year, the GymTide was founded in 1975, and in 1978 revered coach Sarah Patterson took the helm.

In her 36 years as head coach, Patterson lead the ladies to 6 national titles, 9 SEC titles, and retired following her 1000th win in 2014. Coach Dana Duckworth took over 2 years ago and is continuing to develop an impressive and successful program.

A gymnastics meet consists of the four main apparatuses: the balance beam, floor exercise, uneven parallel bars, and vault. Teams rotate through the events continuously, so there truly isn’t a bad seat in the house. The Million Dollar Pep Band is on hand for all home meets to boost the GymTide’s excitement level and pump up the crowd. The talented ladies of Alabama gymnastics will have you flipping for the Tide in no time.
