LSU: The Crazy (Probably Drunk) Uncle

We’re fairly certain likening LSU to the crazy and probably drunk uncle in the SEC football family isn’t much of a stretch. Legends have been made of the Bayou Bengal Tigers’ affinity for drinks and a good time. Visitors to Tiger Stadium typically say that the entire place smells of bourbon and corndogs, and everyone leaves Baton Rouge with some leftover Mardi Gras beads (and a hangover).

Louisiana State University’s football program is actually extremely solid, with between three and eight national titles, depending on who you ask. LSU has won the SEC football conference championship 14 times, with two coming under current head coach Les Miles.

Speaking of Les Miles, let’s talk about the “Crazy” adjective that accompanies the SEC’s favorite uncle. Miles is known for his eccentricities, from chewing on grass in the stadium to his strange, hilarious responses at press conferences.

For example (from BleacherReport):

“When I wake up in the morning and I turn that film on, it’s like reading a book and it’s exciting. I don’t read books, but if I read books it would be like reading a book.”

Often referred to as the Mad Hatter, LSU’s main man yelling too loudly, clapping like a seal after every play, and stumbling over his words helps catapult the Tigers to Crazy Drunk Uncle status. Side note: If you could create a “Les Miles Post-Game Press Conference Translator App” so we can actually understand what he’s trying to say, you’d probably make millions.
