The Crimson Tide has seen its share of recruiting drama, and yesterday was no different.

ICYMI: Folks Raving After Tua Tagovailoa Named to Elite 11 Finals

Things were looking interesting yesterday after the transfer request from Shawn Burgess-Becker, the announcement that Kendall “Hulk” Jones would stay in JUCO at least through this season, and that the Crimson Tide had picked up impressive JUCO offensive lineman Elliot Baker out of California. Little did we know that the recruiting drama of the day had only just begun.

Outside linebacker and defensive end Roderick Jones, Jr. is said to be making a visit to the campus in Tuscaloosa today, hopefully making a decision to join as a late addition to the Crimson Tide’s recruiting class of 2016. That’s some potentially very exciting news for the Tide, as the JUCO All-American would be eligible to play immediately.

Things got even more exciting yesterday evening when four-star quarterback Mac Jones out of Florida flipped his commitment from Kentucky to the Crimson Tide. Jones joins 2017 commit Tua Tagovailoa from Hawai’i, and both are working via Twitter to encourage other recruits to join them at the Capstone.

Shortly after Jones’ announcement, Twitter blew up with tweets from several unhappy Wildcat fans, including Kentucky co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Darin Hinshaw. Hinshaw posted a shady tweet directed at the high school recruit, essentially calling Alabama “evil”.  This started a heated debate on the popular social media site that continued late into the night Tuesday and early morning hours today. Even Alabama Crimson Tide OC and Twitter-master Lane Kiffin joined in the fun. What will happen next remains to be seen, but fans are keeping one eye on those Twitter feeds to see if anything exciting pops up again today.
