The Quarterback

You might not have heard, but for the third straight year Alabama will have a new QB. Cooper Bateman, Blake Barnett, and Jalen Hurts seem to be the only three legitimate contenders now, and that should concern the Alabama faithful. Why?

The fact that Cooper Bateman hasn’t already locked this down probably hasn’t surprised most of you. His performance last season was underwhelming, to say the least, and many fans predicted that Barnett would surpass him by the spring. Unfortunately, most reports indicate that Barnett hasn’t progressed as hoped and, in fact, the competition might actually be down to Bateman and Hurts. If he were to get the start, Hurts, the true freshman out of Channelview, TX, would be thrown right into the fire, facing USC and Ole Miss on the road in the first three weeks of the season. That, my friends, is enough to cause me to wake up screaming in a cold sweat.
