Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban brings his team onto the field prior to warm ups. The 2:30 kickoff of the home opener at Bryant-Denny Stadium against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers was hot and humid.

Some called the matchup a “cupcake” or easy game, but those who truly follow football knew it would not be so simple. The previous week, the Hilltoppers had the highest number of passing yards in all of college football, against the Rice Owls.  Coach Saban worked with his coordinators on both sides of the ball to ensure that the defense had excellent pass protection and that offense was starting to gel and click.

The team, wearing crimson shirts with white pants and traditional crimson helmets, ran out of the tunnel to the band playing “Yea, Alabama”. The home crowd was excited and hopeful that the game would have a positive outcome.
