Anthony Madison played offense and defense and returned kicks in high school. As a quarterback, running back and wide receiver he was a two-time All-State selection and amassed over 4,000 yards in his high school career.

Anthony was a redshirt for Alabama football in 2001, seeing no game action for the Crimson Tide. In 2002, Anthony played in every Tide game and started against Vanderbilt and Georgia. For the season he made 11 tackles and broke up six passes.

In 2003, Anthony started 13 games, made 59 tackles, broke up three passes and made one interception. He also recovered a fumble and blocked a field goal. His season high performance was against Auburn when he made 11 tackles.

In 2004, Madison started all twelve games for Alabama Football. He made 21 tackles, broke up 10 passes and made a team-leading, four interceptions. He also blocked a punt.

Madison started every game again in 2005, running his streak to 37 consecutive starts for the Tide. On the season he made 42 tackles and broke up five passes. His game high for the season was nine tackles against LSU.

Madison was undrafted in 2006 and signed a free agent contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He began the 2006 season on the Steelers’ practice squad but was elevated to the main roster and saw action in 13 games.

Madison played for Tampa Bay in 2007 but saw no game action before he returned to the Steelers. during the season. Madison played in 25 games for the Steelers in 2007 and 2008. In 2009 he played in nine games for three teams, Cleveland, Indianapolis, and Pittsburgh.

In 2010, Madison played in 16 games for the Steelers and gained his only career start. Madison finished his NFL career playing in five games for Detriot in 2011.

In his 71 game NFL career, Madison made 81 tackles and intercepted one pass. He was a member of Pittsburgh’s team that won Super Bowl 43.
