WOAT No. 7 – Houston Nutt – Arkansas  and Ole Miss (1998-2011)

Record against Alabama Football: 5 Wins – 9 Losses

Houston Nutt began his head coaching career at Murray State in 1993. After four seasons with the Racers, Nutt coached Boise State in the 1997 season.

Nutt, a college quarterback, played two seasons for Arkansas and two seasons for Oklahoma State.

He returned to Arkansas as Head Coach in 1997 to succeed another former Alabama National Championship player, Danny Ford. Nutt had a 75-48 record at Arkansas and was SEC Coach of the Year in 2001, 2006, and 2008.

Nutt was cut loose by Arkansas following a publicized dispute with a highly rated quarterback and the QB’s family. Some fans believe current Auburn coach and then, Arkansas Offensive Coordinator, Gus Malzahn encouraged the QB and his family to demand a starting role from Nutt.

Facing a probable firing by Arkansas, Nutt moved to Ole Miss for four seasons from 2008-2011. His record at Ole Miss was 24 wins and 26 losses. His last season at Ole Miss, the Rebels were 2-10.

Nutt was fired by Ole Miss in 2011 after two back-to-back losing seasons. His record against Alabama Football was five wins and nine losses. Nutt has not coached since leaving Ole Miss.

WOAT No. 8 – Gerry Dinardo – Vanderbilt and LSU (1991-1999)

Record against Alabama Football: 1 Win – 8 Losses

Gerry Dinardo spent four seasons as the Vanderbilt head coach from 1991-1995. His record for the Commodores was 19 wins and 25 losses.

Based upon that gaudy record with the Dores, Dinardo was lured away from Vandy, to LSU in 1995. The hiring by the Bengal Tigers would prove to be another of several bad LSU coaching decisions.

Dinardo’s record at LSU in 1995-1999 was 32-24 and during his last two seasons, LSU won only six games. Dinardo was dismissed before the last game of the 1999 season. His record against Alabama Football was one win and eight losses.

Dinardo followed his LSU debacle with three seasons at Indiana. His Indiana teams were 8-35.

Gerry Dinardo has not coached since.
