Alabama Gymnastics: Crimson Tide Ready To Rumble At SEC Championship
VAULT
NCAA rules are, per USGyms.net:
"Gymnasts will perform one vault, the score of which will count. A gymnast will be afforded three attempts to go over the horse one time. Touching the board and/or the horse, without going over the horse, counts as one of the three attempts. Judges can make the following deductions: 1.00 deduction for touching the horse with only one or with no hands. 1.00 deduction for failure to land on feet first. (includes fall) 1.00 deduction for spotting assistance during the vault."
The team can drop the two lowest scores from the combined total. Here’s how the team’s stack up against each other:
Alabama’s best vaulter is junior Nickie Guerrero who has twice hit her career best of 9.950. Senior Katie Bailey will also be a valuable part of the rotation as well as junior Kiana Winston (aka the Lethal Weapon).
LSU senior Ashleigh Gnat will be the top competitor for the Tigers and has scored a perfect 10.00 twice. Florida junior Alex McCurty has also recorded a perfect 10.00 this season for the Gators and will be the best gymnast in the event.
