Alabama Gymnastics is the No. 1 Seed in the Morgantown Regional but has tough competition.

The Crimson Tide are primed and ready for this weekend’s NCAA regional in Morgantown, West Virginia. However, Alabama Gymnastics has some serious competition waiting for them in coal-mining country.

After securing the No. 1 seed, Alabama Gymnastics is a favorite to be one of the top two teams in the Morgantown Regional to move on to the NCAA Championships. The Crimson Tide also knows that you don’t win meets by people’s opinions, you win them by producing.

Alabama Gymnastics has thrived on going against the best and proving their strength through winning. This weekend, Alabama Gymnastics will have tough competition from two opponents that will challenge the Crimson Tide.

Michigan Wolverines

The Wolverines are the No. 2 seed and the Big Ten Champions. Michigan have battled hard this season placing three gymnasts on the All-American team.

Senior Nicole Artz has been a solid teammate for Michigan, earning First-Team honors on the Floor Exercise scoring a perfect 10.0 against Illinois and Second-Team in the All-Around category.

Junior Paige Zaziski performed at a high level this season as she earned Second-Team honors for the Uneven Bars. She also has been consistent in the Vault and the Balance Beam.

Sophomore Emma McLean is impressive on the Vault making the Second-Team as an All-American and scoring a 9.975 twice this season.

The Wolverines ended the regular season ranked seventh in the country and the top 10 on the vault, the balance beam and the floor exercise.

West Virginia Mountaineers

The Mountaineers are a big concern because they are hosting the NCAA Regional. West Virginia is a very good squad and performing in front of their home crowd only fuels their intensity.

Sophomore Kirah Koshinski won All-American honors on the Vault for the second year in a row and have led the team in leadership. The Mountaineers have improved throughout the season, entering the post-season ranked in the top 25 and placing third in the Big 12 Championship.

Alabama Gymnastics has the talent, the determination and routines to move on to the NCAA Championships but will have to fight their way through Michigan and West Virginia to continue the march toward another national championship. That’s the way the Crimson Tide likes it!
