Alabama Basketball: 2018 Preseason Rankings and Vegas Odds To Win It All

Alabama Basketball fans get a head start on the 2018 season. The way-too-early rankings are out and so are the odds of the Tide winning the NCAA Championship.
For good reason, Alabama basketball fans are excited about next season. One day after the end of the 2017 season, The Tide is already ranked among the top 2018 teams.
Vegas posted the odds on teams’ chances to win the 2018 championship and Alabama basketball is listed in the top three from the SEC.

2017 Champion North Carolina was given 12:1 odds, as was national runner-up Gonzaga.
In the way-too-early category of rankings, Sporting News 2017-18 College Basketball Rankings Alabama is ranked at No. 21 in the nation. USA Today has the Tide ranked at No. 18 and CBS Sports has the Tide ranked No. 20 in the nation.

Other SEC teams ranked by Sporting News are Kentucky No. 3 and Florida at No. 8. 2017 Champion North Carolina is ranked No. 7.
The other top ten ranked teams according to Sporting News are No. 1, Arizona; No. 2 Duke; No. 4, Kansas; No. 5, Michigan State; No. 6, Louisville; No. 9, Wichita State and No. 10 Villanova.
Alabama basketball announced three roster changes over the last week. Junior Nick King is transferring to Middle Tennessee State. King saw only limited early season action due to a serious medical ailment.
Sophomore Brandon Austin also announced he will transfer. Austin missed most of the season with a back injury and only competed in six games.
Junior guard Ar’Mond Davis is the most recent 2017 Alabama basketball player to announce his intention to transfer. Davis played in 32 games during his single season with the Crimson Tide.
Alabama basketball is expected to add at least one additional player for the 2018 season. Any roster additions at this point will likely be graduate transfers, like 2017 players Corban Collins and Bola Olaniyan.
