Alabama Sports: Latest Rankings And News For Crimson Tide Teams

Alabama sports has a history of National and SEC Championships. The Alabama football championships are well known but Men’s and Women’s Golf, Gymnastics and Softball have earned National and SEC Championships. Let’s check on the current national rankings for these and other Tide teams.
The 21st century has been kind to Alabama sports, with Football, Gymnastics, Men’s Golf, Women’s Golf and Softball winning a combined 11 National Championships.
Football: 2009: 2011; 2012; 2015

Alabama Gymnastics
The Alabama Gymnastics team placed second in the Morgantown NCAA Regionals last weekend and qualified for the NCAA Nationals. Alabama Gymnastics overcame a few mishaps to finish second behind the Michigan Wolverines and advance to the NCAA Championships for the 35th consecutive time. Since Women’s Gymnastics NCAA Championships began in 1982, only six teams have won the NCAA team title – Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, UCLA and Utah. Alabama Gymnastics has won the NCAA Gymnastics title six times.
Georgia has won a NCAA record 10 women’s gymnastics national championships. Utah has won nine team titles, like Alabama, UCLA has six, Florida three and Oklahoma two. Read the History of Alabama Gymnastics National Championships.
The NCAA Gymnastics National Championship will be in St. Louis, Missouri, April 14-15. The other competing teams are Michigan; Oklahoma; Utah; Denver; UCLA; Nebraska; Washington; Oregon State; Georgia; Florida; and LSU. Oklahoma is the defending champion.
Alabama Women’s Golf
Alabama’s Women’s golf won the Bryan National Collegiate Tournament in Brown’s Summit, NC. The Tide women dominated the event, winning easily at 13 under par. The second place finisher was Georgia, 14 shots behind the Crimson Tide. Tide Women Win Again.

With the tournament win, Alabama Women’s Golf is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation.
Next up is the Liz Murphy Classic in Athens, GA, hosted by the University of Georgia. The 54-hole event begins on Friday, April 7. On April 21, Alabama Women’s golf will begin its SEC Championship title defense at the Greystone Club in Birmingham.
Alabama Softball
Alabama softball lost two of three games last weekend against Missouri. Much worse, Alabama softball also lost leadoff hitter and second baseman Demi Turner to a traumatic injury.
Alabama softball is currently ranked No. 12 in the nation. The Tide has a very important three-game series against LSU, this weekend in Tuscaloosa.
Alabama Men’s Golf
The Alabama Men’s team had its best performance of the season, beating the tournament host, No. 3 ranked Vanderbilt by three shots. Alabama’s team shot 11 under par on Sunday. Florida shot 13 under on Sunday to take the overall tournament by a single shot over Alabama.
In the individual scoring, Alabama’s redshirt freshman, Josh Sedeno finished No. 2 at nine under par and Davis Riley finished No. 9 at 6 under par. Florida’s Sam Horsfield was the individual winner at 11 under par.
Next up for the Tide Men’s Golf is the Clemson Invitational beginning on April 7.
Men’s and Women’s Track and Field
The Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams are having a great spring. Both teams are nationally ranked.
Alabama will host their only home meet of the 2017 outdoor season this weekend, April 7-8. Other teams competing are Louisville, Memphis, Missouri, Mississippi State and Southern Miss.
Alabama sports enjoy so much hard-earned success. Champions and non-champions alike, all these athletes continue the tradition of Crimson Tide competitive excellence.
