Defensive Tackle – Da’Ron Payne

Payne is the man in the middle. Spelling Payne will be Josh Frazier. If needed, Isaiah Buggs and Da’Shawn Hand can also play inside.

Defensive Ends – Da’Shawn Hand and Isaiah Buggs

Da’Shawn Hand will be expected to fill the Jonathan Allen role. Buggs has impressed since the winter practices prior to the College Football Playoff. The backups will be Quinnen Williams and Raekwon Davis.

That totals six down lineman and all of them will be needed in a regular rotation. Saban learned years ago that when a defensive lineman runs out of gas, he can rarely recover during a game. Practice observers report Johnny Dwight and Jamar King are improved players and can be counted on for additional depth.

Inside Linebackers – Shaun Dion Hamilton and Rashaan Evans

A healthy Shaun Dion Hamilton will start alongside Rashaan Evans at Will and Mike linebackers. Mack Wilson and Keith Holcombe will be the key backups. The incredibly gifted athlete, Dylan Moses may push for playing time beyond special teams.

Outside Linebackers – Christian Miller, Anfernee Jennings and Terrell Hall

At Sam, we expect Christian Miller will start. At Jack, Anfernee Jennings and Terrell Hall will rotate. Ben Davis will likely be part of the regular rotation. In some situations, Rashaan Evans may also fill in as an outside rusher.
