Probable First Round Picks

Cam Robinson is rated by Mike Mayock as the top offensive tackle in the draft. Many experts have expressed concern with Robinson’s consistency during his Alabama football career. For that reason, offensive guard has been the position most often listed for Robinson.

If Mayock is correct that Cam’s best position is tackle, the 2016 Outland trophy winner’s draft stock ticks upward.

There is little doubt concerning Robinson’s physical prowess as a run blocker. Although some so-called experts say Cam struggles against the fastest edge rushers, his Alabama career stats dispute that assertion.

Our mock draft sample has Robinson going as high as No. 20 in the first round, to as low as the middle of round two. Being selected No. 20 probably will make Cam the No. 4 Alabama player selected in the draft.

Choosing Cam Robinson to be picked ahead of Marlon Humphrey is based on Mayock’s position rankings. Mayock has Marlon as the No. 3 rated cornerback in the draft. Playing cornerback in the NFL is a big challenge for any college player. Humphrey has all the tools to be long-time NFL starter.

Some draft experts have Marlon being selected before Cam Robinson. In our mock draft sample, Marlon could go as high as the No. 6 player selected in the first round. The other end of the mock draft range has Humphrey not being drafted until the second round.

At No. 6, Marlon could be the No. 3 Alabama player selected in the draft, but based on the Mayock ratings, we see him as Alabama player No. 5.
