With fall camp less than two weeks away, Alabama football fans are excited. Let’s take a deep dive into the latest, pre-camp, two-deep depth chart.
Alabama football is about two weeks away from the start of fall camp. The date has not been officially announced but it is expected to be August 3. The first depth chart blessed by Nick Saban may not be released until August 28.
Our last projected depth chart was posted at the end of spring training. Since then no open positions have been finalized and new information has been infrequent. Still, bits and pieces of information get shared by insiders and other players.
Eleven more true freshmen reported in June. Conditioning and 7v7 drills have been ongoing. The 11 late enrollees are yet to put on pads. Despite that, several are reported making a strong impression on teammates and coaches.
There will be competition for two-deep slots throughout fall camp. After the FSU game, key backups will see added game action and thereby opportunities to move up. The ‘ones’ are not completely settled. Even less settled are the ‘twos.’
Many position groups are driven by playing rotation. That results in a two-deep on offense and defense being more than 50 players. Include special teams and that number increases to 60-plus players.
It is either too early to know or beyond our ability to discover a comprehensive list. We can provide insight on 50-plus players and where we think each stands on the Alabama football depth chart.
