Offensive Line Starters
Three of the offensive line starters are locks and two of them, Brad Bozeman and Jonah Williams are two of the best offensive linemen in the nation.
Center – Bradley Bozeman
Bozeman’s backup will probably be J.C. Hassenauer.
Left Guard – Ross Pierschbacher
Backup is likely to be Dallas Warmack.
Left Tackle – Jonah Williams
Jonah Williams’ backup will be a player that does not earn the right tackle slot. More on that below.
Right Guard – TBD
Lester Cotton is the most likely choice at right guard but that requires the staff being sold on a right tackle. If none of the right tackle candidates solidify the position in fall camp, Cotton could be the right tackle. In that scenario, the player who would step into right guard is Deonte Brown. That is if Brown can shed more bad weight. Brown is still listed at 350 pounds though his high school coach stated Brown has dropped 10-15 pounds this summer.
The other guard prospects are true freshmen Alex Leatherwood and Jedrick Wills but both are competing to earn the right tackle starting job.
Right Tackle
Matt Womack has the best chance for this starting role. The staff is currently most comfortable with Womack. Alex Leatherwood struggled against edge rushers in the A-Day game.
Scott Lashley could still become a factor at right tackle. Even though he was a late enrollee, Jedrick Wills has a chance to seize this position in fall camp. Much like Ruggs and Smith, Leatherwood and Wills have already impressed fellow teammates.
Starter, Tight End – H-back – Miller Forristall
Irv Smith will see plenty of action as the backup. Smith has impressed coaches and insiders during the spring.
Starter, Tight End – Hale Hentges
Backup true freshman Major Tennison has emerged, drawing praise from Saban and comparison to O. J. Howard.
