Alabama football players rested on Sunday and returned to the field on Monday for fall camp practice No. 4. Check out the news from media observers.

Alabama football fans know practice access is limited. The media is limited to short viewing periods at the start of each practice session. The only guests are former players, occasional high profile boosters and NFL scouts. Scouts from the Denver Broncos and the Detriot Lions viewed the Monday practice.

Our reports are compilations from multiple trusted sources. Bama Online, BamaInsider.com, TideSports.com and al.com all do a great job despite the limited access. We also review a few other sources and try to cobble together the most and best information.

Our practice reports attempt to provide context into the bigger picture of Alabama football. For example, when observers point out how a third-team offensive lineman is impressive, we have been anticipating such performance from Jedrick Wills. As we have suggested for several weeks, the late-enrollee should not be discounted as a starter later this season.

Repeating that Jonah Williams will be one of the top offensive linemen in the nation provides nothing new. Williams will be just that, but Alabama football fans don’t need a reminder. A tip to keep up with an emerging star like Jedrick Wills provides more insight.

Let’s Review Practice No. 4

Fall camp will really heat up on Tuesday. Monday was the last day before full pads.

There was no change in the offensive line rep group: Williams, Piersbacher, Bozeman, Cotton and Womack. The same was true on the defensive line: Hand, Payne and Davis.

It is hard to evaluate the two lines until full contact work starts. Much will be learned over the next 10 days as the big boys go after each other.

Vandarius Cowan was out in a black jersey. Kedrick James was back working with the tight ends.

Everyone has been impressed with freshmen receivers Henry Ruggs and Devonta Smith. Fellow freshman, Chadarius Townsend also impressed on Monday.

Jared Mayden has now worked as a second group cornerback the last two practice sessions. We previously suggested Levi Wallace and Nigel Knott would be the likely CB backups. Add Mayden to that list.

There were some reports from Saturday that questioned if Tony Brown was still in the first group secondary at Star. Brown participated with that first group today.

Based on his spring performance and the early fall camp sessions, look for outside linebacker Christian Miller to have a big season as an edge rusher.

Alabama football will have five more practice sessions this week, before again taking a Sunday break. We will report what we learn each day so check in with us often.
