Wednesday Practice News

It was another August scorcher in Tuscaloosa. Typically the first day of classes also means the end of fall camp. However, there was no indication Nick Saban has moved on to FSU game preparation.

For the first time in several sessions, running back Josh Jacobs was on the practice field. His injured leg was wrapped and he was observed to not be at full speed. His return suggests he might play against FSU.

For a second practice session, outside linebacker Christain Miller also had a wrap around his leg. Miller participated in drills, though he appeared to be limited. Miller is expected to be back to full speed soon.

Player Changes in Rep Groups

There were no changes with the first group offensive line. In the second group, Richie Petitbone and Chris Owens were working at left guard and center. Deonte Brown and Brandon Kennedy were at those slots with the second group on Tuesday. Alex Leatherwood and Jedrick Wills continued to work in the second group at left and right tackle respectively.

There were no surprises in the rep lines for the other position groups. Alabama football will practice three more times this week before a break on Sunday.

Preseason teams and preseason polls are fun for fans. As Nick Saban will quickly tell anyone, preseason recognition means nothing once leather thuds against leather in the first kickoff. We are expecting a great season for Alabama football with many awards and a couple of championships at the end. Bama Hammer and Alabama football fans will follow it together.
