Many games not involving Alabama football are important to the Tide. Let’s check out the key games from week No. 2 of the 2017 CFB season.

The goals for Alabama football are the same every season. Get to Atlanta in December, win a SEC Championship, compete in the CFB Playoff and win a National Championship. All those goals will be achieved if the Tide goes 15-0 in 2017.

Of the 11 Alabama football, national championships won under Bryant, Stallings and Saban only four came from undefeated seasons. One loss and a team may still control its own destiny but that depends on how other potential CFB Playoff teams perform.

What teams to follow? The answer will change as the season progresses. The starting point is SEC West Division foes. Then we add the two 2017 East Division opponents. The next group to follow is the Alabama football non-conference opponents. Next, we follow the most likely SEC East opponents for a SEC Conference Championship. Lastly, we consider a dozen or so teams that are in any current CFB Playoff conversation.

At the end of week two, we are reviewing 25 teams. The number will diminish later in the season as teams fall out of CFB Playoff contention. The format of our review has changed this week. We will give more attention to the games having the biggest impact on the young 2017 season.

First, a quick review of which teams were unable to place due to Hurricane Irma. Florida State, Florida and Miami (along with schools we are not following) canceled week two games.
