Alabama remains No. 1 in the Associated Press and Amway Coaches polls this week following the Tide’s 41-10 win over Fresno State last Saturday. Colorado State is unranked after defeating Abilene Christian, 38-10.

Series Notes

Alabama and Colorado State will meet for the second time in the history of the two programs this weekend. The Tide’s first meeting with Colorado State was a 31-6 win over the Rams on Sept. 21, 2013 in UA’s home opener at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Crimson Tide is 7-1 all-time (5-1 after vacations) against current members of the Mountain West Conference.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban is 4-1 all-time against the MWC, including a 3-0 mark with the Crimson Tide. The Tide defeated Fresno State, 41-10, last Saturday in its most recent meeting with an MWC team. In the other meeting with a current Mountain West team under Saban, Alabama posted a 48-3 win over San Jose State in the 2010 season opener at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

"Mike Bobo is in his third year as the head coach at ColoradoState. He led the Rams to bowl appearances in each of his firsttwo seasons.Statistically, the Rams return 93.9 percent of their rushing yardage, 95.5 percent of their passing yards and 88 percent of its total scoring. Over the final six games in 2016, CSU averaged 47.8 points and 533.8 yards per game, figures which ranked 2nd and 4th, respectively, in all of FBS from October 16 forward. Overall, the Rams ranked 28th in FBS in scoring offense and 30th in total offense; on Oct. 16, they ranked 96th and 75th in those two categories.The Rams defense has already forced nine turnovers through three games. The Rams had 14 total takeaways last year. Gallup ranks fourth in the nation in receiving yards (309). The Rams defense has not allowed a TD in the last 1:03:36 of game time."

Next Up For The Tide:

Alabama will open Southeastern Conference play when it visits Nashville for a 2:30 p.m. (CT) contest with the Vanderbilt Commodores that will air on CBS.

The Crimson Tide is 59-19-4 all-time against the Commodores and has won the last 21 meetings dating back to 1985. Alabama defeated Vanderbilt, 34-0, in the last meeting between the two teams at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Oct. 8, 2011. The Tide is 27-14-2 all-time against VU in Nashville. Alabama head coach Nick Saban is 3-0 in his career against Vanderbilt, including a 2-0 mark with the Tide.
