Alabama football was back to work on Tuesday during a hot, fall afternoon. The Tide worked in full pads on the Thomas-Drew practice fields.

Alabama football was given a much-needed two days of rest after the Vanderbilt game. If the extra day was a bonus earned by the Vandy performance, it was clearly deserving. Along with Hootie Jones, Dylan Moses and Daniel Wright on special teams, the entire travel rosters of the offense and defense earned ‘Players of the Game’ for Vandy.

No new injuries have been reported this week though outside linebacker, Jamey Mosley was not seen during Tuesday’s media viewing period. Practice observers reported noted none of the previously injured players appeared limited on Tuesday.

There were no position changes or roster adjustments evident from the practice. There is speculation Rashaan Evans will get extended duty as a pass rusher against the Ole Miss pass-heavy offense.

Based on his performance in the last two games it appears Levi Wallace has locked down the starter job at left cornerback. Against the SEC’s top passing team (427 yards-per-game) Alabama football is expected to counter with a dime-heavy defense. In the dime, Minkah moves from Star to Money and Tony Brown comes in at Star.

Alabama football fans will hear from Nick Saban on Wednesday. The coach’s comments on preparation will be interesting to follow. Most teams and Alabama football is not immune would come off a near perfect game performance being a little flat. Nick will fight any sign of the slightest complacency.

For every player other than maybe the true freshmen, Saturday is a pay-back game. Losing to Ole Miss two out of three years will not be exorcised with just one or two Tide victories.

The 2017 Ole Miss season could regain lost status by beating Alabama football, LSU or Mississippi State. There is not much else for the Rebels-Black Bears to look forward to with no bowl game and the NCAA Doom that edges closer by the day.
