Alabama football fans, experts and pundits alike were impressed when Alabama took down Vanderbilt 59-0 last week. Now, after a 66-3 win over Ole Miss, Alabama’s being heralded as the team to beat. Check out the Twitter response.
Let’s get one thing straight: Ole Miss isn’t the Ole Miss of two or three years ago. This team is rebuilding after a loss of many personnel and a loss of their head coach to a scandal. That all being said, Alabama football had this game well in hand from the start. That is impressive. After back-to-back trouncings, Alabama football is looking more confident than ever.
Alabama football fans, experts and talking heads alike took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the game. As we have every week, we picked the best ones and put them here for your entertainment.
First things first, we got to focus on that blatant chop block:
So how long y’all gone keep letting defenders get there knees chopped before it becomes a player safety concern @NCAA #Refs #RulesCommitee

That last tweet is certainly promising news. We’ll await word from Saban on Monday for official word. But I think the point is, no matter if you’re winning or losing by 40, chop blocks are cheap ways to take out a player. It’s worse when a team is losing by a bunch because it seems classless. Whether the Ole Miss player meant to or not, it’s a dirty play.
No matter how dirty you play, numbers never lie.
First time Alabama has scored 59 or more in consecutive games since 1945. (Kentucky 60, Vandy 71)

Alabama did not turn the ball over for the eighth straight game, extending the longest such streak in FBS over the last 20 seasons.

Alabama beat Vanderbilt by 59. Ole Miss by 63. By the transitive property (or something like that), Ole Miss is worse than Vanderbilt.

Scott Cochran is so intense. That’s what he’s paid for. IF IT’S THE FOURTH QUARTER YOU NEED TO BE FOCUSED. SCOTT COCHRAN DEMANDS YOUR FOCUS.
After the game, Saban was still not happy.
Alabama just beat a team 66-3 and Nick Saban is in here screaming about reporters not holding microphones up to their mouths. This guy.

Nick Saban is super salty for a coach that just beat his last two opponents 125-3.
— Aaron Suttles (@AaronSuttles) October 1, 2017
Saban probably: “well, it was a pretty good game, we could’ve done better.”
— Hannah Stephens (@TheHannahSShow) October 1, 2017
“Coach, you won 66-3.”
Saban: “exactly. They scored”#rolltide
Okay, that last one was a hypothetical, but the point is there. Saban was super pleased after the game against Vanderbilt. Now Alabama beats Ole Miss by more and he’s not satisfied. Some days, it seems Saban won’t be satisfied until the opponent is so exhausted that they sleep on the field where they lose.

Hey @LSU, thanks for having us down for homecoming! We really enjoyed it! 😁

LSU paid Troy $985,000 to lose to them in Tiger Stadium. One more dig at LSU…
I mean, it only took Ole Miss a decade to recover from Ed Orgeron’s mess. That’s all!
